While a mother-in-law apartment or suite is often finished in the basement of a house, it can also be built as a detached structure next to or behind an existing home on the same property. This type of small house is also sometimes called an ADU (accessory dwelling unit), guest house, or casita. It’s not only a convenient housing solution for aging parents, adult children, or guests, but it can also serve as a great source of rental income. Casitas and guest houses are becoming increasingly popular here in Utah, and Hope Custom Building’s experience building these ADUs will give you an awesome finished product that can drastically increase the value of your property!

This detached ADU we built in Salt Lake City will be used as a rental property.
